The future is female, according to London electronic duo Kaleida – aka Christina Wood and Cicely Goulder – who provide this week’s mix. FUTUREFEMALE is exclusively
made up of tracks by female artists, with Kate Bush, PJ Harvey, Fever Ray and Helena Hauff amongst the line-up.
The mix follows on from the release of their debut album, Tear The Roots, which dropped in October and was written, recorded and produced entirely by the pair – “the model where men control everything, when a woman is singing on top of music that men have produced, for men’s gratification, is breaking down” says Cicely, “that was the starting point for FUTUREFEMALE”.
The mix rounds off an amazing year for Kaleida – 2017 saw them release an album, tour extensively throughout Europe and record an exclusive cover of Nena’s 99 Luftballons for Charlize Theron’s spy-thriller Atomic Blonde. What does 2018 have in store? “We’ll be kicking the year off with our biggest ever headline show at Hackney’s Oslo – and we can’t wait” says Christina.
We’ll definitely be there.
